Let Your Love Language Design You A Living Room

Designing Living Room On The Basis Of Love Language

Many a times, we translate our personalities and natural tendencies into our living spaces. It is not a recently discovered fact that we design our spaces on the basis of our habits and lifestyle- whether we are aware or unaware of it. The preference of home décor and the vibes you want to spread is closely connected to the ways you make connections with others.

According to a popular book by Dr. Gary Chapman, there are 5 love languages which depict the ways we show love and appreciation to others. Each love language is unique and reflects on how you interact with others and in turn, how you style your home.

Here are a few tips to design your living room based on your love language:

Quality Time

If you enjoy spending quality time with others,  you may love creating spaces that evoke socialization. It means your décor should be inviting and accommodating of more than a few guests. The easiest way of doing this is by arranging the furniture inward, in almost a circular manner which could make everyone feel a part of the group and lead to open-hearted conversations.

Acts of Service

The people whose love language is Acts of Service are all about doing things for others. This becomes obvious since the moment you enter their home and they take your coat or offer you something that they poured their heart into making for you. The home décor of such a person is very welcoming, alongside creating opportunities for hospitality. For instance, there is a bar (or even a coffee bar) with varieties of glasses and ingredients, to entertain their guests.

Words of Affirmation

For those who believe that love can be expressed beautifully with words, having heart-to-hearts about all things possible is very important. As a person who loves reading, motivational posters or quotes are easy to be sighted in your living spaces. Small nooks to engage in small group or one on one conversation over a cup of tea or coffee, can portray your love language which is Words of Affirmation.

Physical Touch

When you are a person who enjoys being near to those you love, you don’t want to miss any opportunity of getting close and personal with them. Even an arm’s length is too far for you! Your living room may have cozier and classier aesthetic. The furniture is arranged closer to each other over mellow lighting warming up the place.

Gifts

We know you are a gift-giver when you offer little things like chocolates from that exceptional bowl at your home. As a gift-receiver and giver, you know how much time and thought goes behind each purchase and you appreciate it. Tell the story of each unique item in your possession through the details of your décor. Let your living room be a celebration of special moments, souvenirs and people. An open shelf is best suited to showcase all this.
