Architectural tours are generally based on viewing the modern architectural marvels and the ancient monuments. These tours are mostly on foot or by bus depending on the distance between the places in the itinerary. The former is preferred as it gives more time to discuss and understand the context. The tour guides have background in architecture or are architects by profession.

The architectural tours can benefit the students and professionals. It is also an amazing experience for the architectural enthusiasts. It brings out the ‘why’ of the city. Opens up conversations that give a new perspective to the design. It brings together the political, cultural, economic and environmental aspects of every building and lends you the combined experience of it.

Before conducting an architectural tour, it is important to understand the structure and significance of the built form. At the same time, read a little about the places to visit, if you are attending such a tour. Conveying the understanding or facts and even discussing theories can be fun during the architectural walk. Take pictures or quick sketch the spaces and views that you found were out of ordinary. To conclude the tour, you can write essays or memory sketch/draw or make illustrations, of the things that were memorable and you want to take ahead with you.

The architectural walks are a dialogue between the past and modernity. An evolution of the city can be seen if the tour is planned appropriately. It can be a walk through both, the space and the time.
